Art & Photo Contest

We are seeking submissions for our Art and Photography Contest at the 2023 Alaska Chapter of the Wildlife Society Annual Meeting!

Submissions must be brought to the Annual Meeting (April 10th-14th, 2023) to be displayed in person. Meeting attendees will vote throughout the week and winners will be announced before the chapter awards on Wednesday April 12th.

 Prizes awarded to winners!

Photography:

$50 + AKTWS t-shirt per category winner

Creative Expressions:

$50 + AKTWS t-shirt for overall winner

$100 for overall Best in Show across categories

(photo/artwork with the most votes)

To enter, please email Jeff Wagner (jeff.wagner115@gmail.com) with the following:

  • Your name
  • Submission category (or categories)
  • Title of artwork(s)

Submission deadline: Friday, April 7th 2023 at 11:59 pm

Contest directions:

Photography

Original photographs fitting categories:

  • Landscapes & Still Life (including Flora)
  • Wildlife
  • Creative/Comedic
  • People & Wildlife (Human dimensions)
  • Game camera*

*Photos must be from personally-owned equipment (e.g. not property of governmental, academic, or other institutions)

One artist submission per photography category.

One winner per category, receives a Chapter t-shirt and $50.

Creative Expressions

A catch-all category for drawings, paintings, jewelry, ceramics, sculpture, mixed-media, etc. If you craft wildlife-themed art that isn’t photography (or doesn’t fit into one of our photography categories), please submit it under this category!

Depending on number of creative expression submissions, subcategories may be created. No submission limit.

One winner per category, receives a Chapter t-shirt and $50.

One overall Best in Show winner will receive an additional $100.

There are several full-service print shops in Fairbanks if you do not wish to travel with your photos or artwork. We recommend calling and placing orders ahead of time to ensure your submissions will be ready by the time you arrive for the Annual Meeting.
